Sustainability in Fiction AND Reality!
Environmental protection and fairness aren’t just at the heart of our fictional adventures. We also try to achieve these and other sustainability goals in reality!
For example, our books, shirts & more are produced on demand - so only when you order them.
This means we hardly need any storage space, and there are no unsold leftovers ending up in the bin - something that happens all too often with mass production.
Downsides of print-on-demand are individual shipping and sometimes higher energy consumption.
But even here, we’re constantly getting better - thanks to eco-friendly packaging and increasingly efficient printing techniques.
Both of these are also promoted by Amazon - although not necessarily for environmental reasons. However, since Amazon usually prints our books as close as possible to your shipping address, it makes the whole process even greener. So in the end, the environment wins!
And with the UK-based company Teemill, we have found our first promising partner who is actively trying to make the life cycle of shirts & more (unfortunately no books yet) fully sustainable!
This usually makes the products a little more expensive, but hey: Fast Fashion really isn't the solution!
It’s much better to be brave, not give up, and improve together a little more every day!
Or, as Emmi loves to say to the Surfbots: "There’s always a solution, and together we’re extra strong!"
